The court granted bail to 10 student leaders, including former General Secretary and former Vice President, in the case of assault on former student union president candidate in Varanasi-based UP College over election enmity. The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Ashwani Kumar sentenced student leader Prateek Singh Parmar, former General Secretary Shivam Singh Babu, former Vice President Sachin Singh Bisen, Virendra Pratap Raghuvanshi, Shanu Singh, Shrestha Sonkar, Ravi Prakash Chandan, Vikas Rai, Arjun Singh and Vivekananda Singh to 25 – Ordered to be released on furnishing two sureties of Rs 25,000 each and personal bond.
Advocates Vineet Kumar Singh, Akash Kumar Singh and Pawan Singh Rajput presented their side on behalf of the defense side in the court. According to the prosecution, former student union president of UP college candidate Wadi Sameer Singh had lodged an FIR on March 17, 2021 at the Cantt police station.
It was alleged that after the completion of the annual elections on March 17, 2021, at around 4 pm, the winning candidate was going to Taktakpur office to congratulate General Secretary Shivam Singh. Dushyant Singh and Rishu Singh were with him at that time. Suddenly Virendra Pratap Raghuvanshi, Vivekananda Singh, Shivam Singh Babu, Shrestha Sonkar, Ravi Prakash Chandan, Vikas Rai Bittu, Shanu Singh, Sachin Singh Special, Arjun Singh, Prateek Singh Parmar, Vishal Singh, Raju Singh and 10 to 15 people with sticks, Armed with sticks, pistols, bombs and rods, we attacked the people, beat them up badly and fired with firearms.
